I dont think the breather tube setup is important as my car isnt running it the biggest issue ive seen was making the computer and trans play nicely with eachother but that could just be because i have a 94, the funny thing is that im very very near lol

Sounds like the A.I.R. pump. From what I've been reading, only manual transmission equipped 3.4 cars had an A.I.R. system installed from the factory, and it's powered by an electric air pump under the passenger side fender. Black hose comes from it to a pair of check valves, then to a rail that runs along the top of each exhaust manifold, with an injector on each cylinder.

I see that! I'm gonna be cruising council bluffs now, looking for the red Z-car that I can steal shift cables from.

Do any of you guys have pictures of a 284 out of the car? The 284 I'm going to snag is still at the junkyard and hasn't bee crushed yet and its much warmer ere now. Would like a few angles to see where all the bolts are. Is it necessary to unbolt the rear exhaust manifold and downpipe to get the trans out like the manual says??
