  • Changing Gears and chain?

My dirt car needs more RPM entering the corners, and I want to change the gears in the side of the trany. Can I do this with it still attached to the engine? Just drop the K frame down for clearance and such, then pull the old ones out and install new ones? Or is here something I have to worry about falling out of place within the trans in the normal position?

Another question is if I wanted to go with a ring gear swap, who sells gears for a 4T60? (the old one not the E series)

you can do it but you run the risk of losing small parts and getting dirt in the unit. You would be best to pull the transmission and do it on the bench.

Sprockets and final drives are pretty much interchangable between the 60 and the 60-E. If you want a 3.73 overall final drive, keep your final drivee/differential. Use the sproket and chain set from a 3.4 TDC 4T60-E. That will give you a 3.73.
