what is that a picture of? since you say the motor runs good, it must be the tranny case?

depends on the condition of the car and if you want to spend a chunk of change to keep it running much longer. i don't know the condition of your car let alone much else about it to give you a what you should do. i can only suggest getting an estimate to have a rebuilt tranny installed or put a known good used one in, and go from there. it looks like the car is in good shape from that one angle. i don't see cars that old around much especially in good condition. me, i'd replace the tranny and drive the wheels off of it. won't be worth much as a trade-in or a private sale if it won't drive anywhere.

well i have yet to look at it, as its sittin ina driveway an hour away covered in snow from our last blizzard...i do believe just the diff and cover are what let go, because i had each gear for a second before it lets go and growls, and hard to see in that pic but thats a spider gear...i will have it home this coming weekend, have to go down with car dolly and bring it back, ill take pics and see if i can see anything and get back on here,if i can get away with a $100 repair, then why not right?

edit: $120 for parts and i can do my own labor...greesemonkey since birth

nope! you lucked out there buddy!! you just need to take a cover support bracket off and remove the diff cover. i do know there is a type of keeper snap ring of sorts for the diff that's a bitch. i hear it will snap out and fly around. otherwise it's cake.

non-lsd burn out will tear up the spiders quickly. not that a long lsd burnout is ok. totally worth doing.
