  • Custom clutch hydraulic line for HM-282?

Anyone ever made a custom hydraulic line between the master and slave cylinders?

My stock one is going to be too close to the turbo for comfort because of the stupid upturn in the line right by the slave. But I'd prefer a better line to begin with instead of the brittle OEM plastic line. Thoughts?

Anyone gotten fittings for the master and slave and had a hydraulic line made up? Or even used stainless hard brake line in 1/4" or 6mm with a short flexible section to allow for engine movement?

I would think it would improve the feel of the clutch also.

I might have to grab a spare hydraulic setup from the yard and look into it if nobody else has done anything like this.

IIRC something like this was talked about at v6z24.com. Search there and see if you find anything.

Yeah from what I remember that was Juiced that started the thread but he was going with a full aftermarket slave IIRC. I dont mind keeping the stock master and slave, I just want new line between the two.

I'll take a look and see if anyone ever figured anything out tho.

      Anyone else ever try?

My brother and I should have a 5 speed out of a vehicle this week. If the line looks rough at all, we'll pull it apart and look into sizes.

          Awesome.

I've heard that the 94 cavalier NVG transmissions have a threaded clutch master cylinder. That's probably a good start. I'll have to look into it next time Im at the junkyard.

Then it's just a matter of figuring out some sort of fitting on the slave and I'll be good to go. The actual line will be easy as long as both cylinders are threaded.

you can get a universal clutch hydralic fitting from earls that is designed to go into the master/slave and convert it to -3an. was going to do this on the old car, never got to it.

You are absolutly correct. I just got a trans and slave setup out of a 93 or 94 cav. It is a aluminum master cylinder. A steel line comes out of the master, then to plastic line, then back to a steel line going into the internal sleeve. It uses common brake line like flare couplings, so making a steel line looks pretty simple.

And the best part is is that theres a bleeder on both sides of the system, at the highest points of each end, so bleeding will be really easy.

Il get pics, but it looks like a fantastic setup compared to my other slace that was plastic and stuff.
