A friend is giving me a 4T60E from a 93 Park Aveune that had a 3.8 in it. I was wondering if it bolt right up to my 93 Lumina 3.1 and go without having to reflash the computer or anything like that. I want to mainly know it will be plug n play. My next question is where is the trans code located on the tran so I can determine want FDR it has in it. I was going to have it rebuilt before I put it in the car and figured while rebuilding I would change the FDR to the 3.73 FDR. One more question, does anyone know where to get an LSD for the 4T60E. I saw that someone had a link to a place that sells them but can't remember the link. Thanks.

Does your Lumina have a 4T60E now? I want to say all W-bodies had them in 93, but I'm not sure. If so, then yes, it should bolt up no problem.
Tag is located on the back of the trans, by the firewall.
LSD is available from www.engineered.net-Brad-

There will be a problem with some of the sensor and TCC hardware from a 3.1 4t60e to a 3.8. The 3.1 has 2 pressure switches and one TCC solenoid. The 3.8 has no switches but has 2 TCC soleniods. One to apply the TCC a PWM soleniod to control the TCC apply. Shift soleniods are the same and work the same. The computer will want to see those switches for TCC control in kickdown from high gear and low gear selection. You can just wire up the shift soleniods and TCC soleniod and negate the PWM, but you might notice some strange operation. Since you want to install 3.73 gearing, you'll have to pull the side cover to change the drive sprockets, if you are carfull you can transfer the channel plate, valvebody, pump and wiring harness from one unit to the other.Last edited by gpse3400; 02-13-2008, 08:04 PM.Lorenzo
