  • New Getrag 284 Parts For Sale

    Hello all.

It's been a while since I have posted here. I hope all of you survived the Christmas holiday.

I am making a post to let everyone know that I have decided to sell the new parts that I acquired from Getrag Gears before they scrapped their remaining stock of 284 parts. (Since I sold my Z-34 5-Speed and bought an '88 Fiero GT, I no longer have a need for them.) I have them listed on eBay (item #280186822139). I thought it fitting to make a post here since a number of you have 284 transaxles in your W-bodies.

Well, its over 200 for the reserve:P I know its worth a lot more than that but its all I will spend on something I probably wouldn't use. Thats a gold mine for finding replacement parts. Did you happen to spec any of these parts? Hehe, worth a shot

Hows the fiero treating you? DOHC swap? I got some other questions but I will PM you. Good to see you on here again

      Ben,

Your bid is more than half way to my reserve. - I know the parts are worth a lot more than that but I will probably never use them and I need the space.

The Fiero is great. I tried to stop by shortly after I got it but you weren't home. Right now, it is bone stock. As usual, I am trying to get a lot of irons out of the fire. I have all the parts to rebuild the front suspension and upgrade the brakes. - I just need to find the time. I would like to start a DOHC swap late next year. I still have the '96 and am itching to rebuilt it and swap it in. I don't think anything sounds much better than a mid-engine 4-valve motor with short exhaust.

      Joel

what did the bidding get up to anyway? i was going to bid but had other things i had to do and forgot about it.

i was somewhat interested in them just for the purpose of trying to get some1 to make more of them.

it would be a crap shoot though. these tranny's are better than the 282's but not as available if i could somehow generate a demand for these over the 282's then having rebuild parts made would be easy.

i am assuming with those parts, any trans tech could rebuild a 284 correct?

if i was successful it would be great but if i was not, theni could probably resell them to break even hopefully.

argh, nvm the odds of that happening are slim and none though.

considering my car is one of only 85 cutlass supreme's made with a 3.4 and 284, no, i will not get a 282 and deminish the value of my car like that. that would be absolutly foolish

I need this for my restored z34, we had the tranny "serviced" but that was nothing more then celaning it. It needs a rebuild, and with more then 25g in the car, I dont want the tranny to be the downfault of 6 years of resotring. What is your budget?
