The transmission in my girlfriends Monte Carlo is really shifting like crap. If I push on the gas it doesn't want to move when it is warm and it really jerks between 1st and 2nd gear. I put a scanner on it and it said the transmission selinoid is bad and needs to be replaced. The problem is I'm not familiar with auto tranny's. Does anyone know where this part even is? Another person said it might be the modulator. I can't find a diagram anywhere for this thing. I've been trying to get her to drive a manual cuz I know what I'm doing with those but she refuses, so can anyone help me please?

the shift solenoids (A and B) are located in the side of the transmission attached to the valve body. You have to either pull the tranny, or drop the subframe to get to it.
I THINK this is the pic of the 4T60-E valve body. At least on EBAY, they said it is. I think the SILVER BOX's ON THE LEFT SIDE are the shift solenoids.
As for the MODULATOR.....
This is the 4T60-E in my 1988 Cutlass Supreme. Look at the GOLD THING on the front of the tranny. Well, it is normally GOLD. Look at the thing circled in RED. That is the modulator. Hers will be BIGGER. Mine is an aftermarket one which you can get an any parts store for about $25.

what codes do you have for the shift solonoid?? are they "shift solonoid open or short" or "shift solonoid stuck on/off"??? for the first one you are actualy looking at an electrical problem, the 2nd being valve body, stuck solonoid, right down to slipping clutches.
by the sounds of your description id say youlikley have an internal problem. what i would do is take it to a reputable shop and have them diagnose it.
