Hi all. Love your forum.
I have a quick question about a 4t60e that i have in my 97 grand am.
Recently it started acting up. It threw a code twice before when i took it on long trips (1870 something about transmission components slipping). But now here is what it has been doing.
If i pull up to a stop sign and gun it, it will go perfect untill about 5000 rpm at which point it will basically feel like i put it in neutral, then when i let go of the accelerator, it will shift into second.
It does this from 2nd to 3rd also. The warmer the fluid gets the higher in the rpms it goes before it feels like it goes into neutral. When its really cold it can happen as low as 3500 rpm. I put new fluid in it when it first started happening and some lucas transmission fix. I added some more of lucas and it seemed to make it worse.
If i drive it slowly and dont give it much gas, it drives fine. I dont have to gun it for it to happen just give it about 50% or so.
Has anyone seen this problem before? Anyone think a junkyard valvebody might fix the problem? Can i put in a valve body with the trans in the car? Any suggestions? Thanks
