the programming for the tranny bases a lot of air flow. basicly air flow determines engine load, and that is used to calculate when to shift.

its common at my shop to have guys come in with a hard shifting tranny and its caused by an over oiled filter that has contaminated the maf.

YES. When the MAF is disconnected it goes into some limp home mode and you have full line pressure on the trans. Not good for the pump or it to be slamming all the time. Firmer shifting is ok, but not full line pressure.

Put the MAF in!! Find a way!!

I don't get it with you. You've been told here many times that the MAF needs to be installed for the trans to shift right. Why do you keep bringing it back up?

whats the point to not run a MAF? its not like its a restriction. and it helps get the AF ratio dialed in right... so why not run it?

Problem is you just cant drop the MAF back in if RSM tuned it out of your PCM........when I blew up and put a stock 3400 back in and plugged in the MAF......the engine died.......no tables to read.....so I had to get a junk yard PCM(stock tune) just to put it back in line..............Its gonna be trickey ....but if you are a DHP PT Tuner you should be able to play with some different MAFs with Different table and get a right fit.....................NA should not be an issue ....its when the boost kicks in is when the real tune begins..................

Hey Z34....when I get back on boost you are the guy that gonna get me right....good to see you .....hope all is well

yeah i got a tuner... we shoudl get together some time and try the tuner first... i tried a friends car a few weeks ago with an l32 and it didnt work.... so lets make sure we can tune it before you swap the parts back in....

my tuner let me make a new bin for him but not upload it.

Put a MAF in and get a Powrtuner, screw RSM's tune...

Hell it should run with a slightly modified file and a MAF, then it would be like tuning any other boosted car.

I have a HP tuner software.
When I pulled my first read from my PCM, it was absalutely stock.
RSM doesnt changed anything in there kits at all regarding tunning.
I will just plug the MAF and Go from there. then tune.
NE ways I have the stock tune for a 01 GA GT saved as aBIN file. So Im good there.
Well I want a Smaller pully on my Driveshat, i already have a stage 2 pully, but I want a smaller one to get hgher boost at lower RPMs

find a way to hook up the maf with your grand am your going to roast the tranny in no time.

the few times iive had mine unhooked to do a ve tune made me shudder when i took it out of park into drive it was almost like nuetral dropping it.

plus the slamming into gear isnt that good for youur trans either. firm shits is one thing butslamming into gear is another.
