Careful getting it at Advanced, here their computer substituted it for a non-adjustable one. Ensure it's a Pioneer one.

Now... what the metal vac lines plugs into on the tranny, is that a modulator? Is this adjustable one supposed to be a replacement for that? Seems like it should be, but it's much smaller and doesn't have the vac port pointing in the same direction. Sure I could go find a T or something, but if it's a replacement I shouldn't have to?

747017 Shows up as 83-91 4T60E on oriellyauto.com. Perhaps that's why the vacuum port is in a different spot?

If you could do post pictures of the replacement. It is just unscrew and replace? I might want to do this to mine.

I'm assuming your 96 is still vacuum controlled modulator? I thought 96 when they went OBDII the trans became fully electronic and controlled line pressure via electronics not vacuum??

Yes still vac controlled... I don't know what year it went to all electronic... I wish mine was I could just change the pressure with my Powrtuner.

                    83-91 didn't even have the 4T60E, the E didn't come till like 93...

New adjustable vs the one in the transmission. Not only the vac port moved, but it seems a good bit smaller than the one in the tranny.

The new one did come with a piece of hose, angled at 90*, it may hookup with that hose I am not sure.

Anyone know why they used a metal line vs a regular rubber vac hose? Because of how close to the exhaust it gets?

                      4T60E came out in 91 : http://60degreev6.com/showthread.php?t=25029

4T60E has never been fully electronic. It has always had a modulator, even on OBD2. The 4T65E is the fully electronic version.

                        Ah got ya.
For some reason this popped into my head, but a 94 buick with a 3100 I saw had a weird plenum, throttle body, and other things. It had a MAF too. I wonder if that was the one with the OBD1.5 with removeable prom? </offtopic>

Stock metal line is just for reliability, as you said the exhaust is there, and rubber can rot, and tear/etc. So they went with hard line. Plus it stays in place better. On mine it T's off at the modulator and goes to my vacuum tank with a check valve there. But looks just like yours, and says Holley on it.

The replacement I wouldn't worry about the size, just different brand/construction. It came with a 90* elbow to make it work with the stock routing it seems. Use that and you should be fine.

Is replacement as simple as pull out and push new one in?

my 4t45e is totally electronic too. its nice to be able to adjust the pressure with dhp, but its a pain in the butt when doing a ve tune cause when you unhook the maf to get the scan data it jacks the trans pressure up to the max.

Does this reduce the time on downshifts any? It seems sometimes my car downshifts fast, some times it takes is time going from 3rd to 2nd then to 1st. Other times it's just bam and goes. Upshifts seem to be quick pretty much all the time, with the front breaking free on rough roads sometimes hehe
