    The 4T60-E was introduced in 1991 as an upgrade to the 4T60 (440-T4) for the 3.4 DOHC, 3800 and 4.9 (found in FWD Cadillacs). It was mated to the 3.1Ls in W-bodies in 1993, and then to all 3100-powered vehicles when the 3100 debuted in 1994. It continued service in many vehicles until 2000, when it was replaced by either the 4T40/45-E or 4T65-E (depending on the vehicle). The following is a comparison between the 4T60 and 4T60-E:
