help with removing linkage, 90 gp ste

can anyone tell me how to remove the shift cables from the shifter? they have bushings holding them in the shifter (one rubber, one plastic, i tihnk). it looks like i'll have to break them to get them out.

if i break them, can they be replaced, or is this another discontinued part?

any quick help will be appreciated. i only have two hours before i have to get ready for work and i don't know when i'll be able to get back to this.
