  • New Couplers for Getrag 284 Hydraulics

    Hello all.

'Been a while since I posted. I thought some of you might enjoy seeing the couplers that I engineered last week. I wanted to circumvent the pedal vibration damper in the hydraulic circuit of my clutch and needed to bleed the system when finished. I also needed a convenient means of attaching the an-3 braided line. After connecting the new master and slave, I bled the system (before installation) with a pressure bleeder.

It has been a week since the upgrade. I can't tell you what a difference the change made! After speaking with a product engineer at AMS Automotive (Rhino Pack Clutches), I learned that the vibration damper can be a real garbage collector in terms of rust and other foreign particles. - Once this happens, the damper will hold back pressure when the clutch pedal is depressed, preventing complete clutch disengagement. - (This was the symptom that I noticed on my car. - It was particularly hard shifting into gear when stopped.) This condition also manifests itself by holding line pressure after the pedal is released, preventing complete clutch engagement. Needless to say, these symptoms have adverse effects on the clutch disc and the synchros / blocker rings. As a side note, I notice no additional / abnormal pedal vibration since eliminating the damper. The clutch action is significantly more positive.

If any of you folks are interested in obtaining a pair of these fittings, contact Ben. Since we both live in the same town, I have given him a set for evaluation and asked him to consider selling them in his store.
