  • Cutlass supreme a la four wheel steering now

well sister was too smart and rammed the rear end of the cutlass into the house wall.

Here was the aftermath the rear now has 4 wheel steering.

    bent trailing arm so far

rear stabilizer bar looks kinked too and needs replacement

okay gurus what needs to be replaced?

i'm amazed it only bent the trailing arm, i expected it to seperate from the mount on the frame...

Well, look at it this way... Now is the time to move to GMPP (GM Performance Parts) trailing arms and an Addco swaybar

OUCH! hmmm, must live in the north..that be a lot of rust.. suprised everything held together!
I am thinking time for you to do what I am doing... all 4 lateral arms and the two trailing links, straighten anything that needs straigtening, replace your sway bar and possibly the strut on the side she hit.

well started to dismantle the parts that are obviously bent or broken and looks like just the trailing arm and rear lateral arm.

problem i have is trying to get the bolt out from the center.

OEM, BMR (tubular, polly, adjustable) , or junkyard.

Page 10-12 of the Haynes manual 12.11 says,

"On 1988 and 1989 models mark the position of the toe adjusting cam to the crossmember. Remove the toe adjusting cam and push the bolt through far enough to allow the rod to be removed. On some models it may be necessary to lower the fuel tank for access to the front rod bolt."

I believe that means the rear lateral links can be removed easily but the for the front links you would have to either drop the gas tank or drop the entire crossmember to get the bolts out.

                          Hi,
I lost my haynes manual and the nut is removed but the bolt is not coming out as it is hitting the fibreglass leaf spring. I just need to remove the rear lateral link.
As for lowering the gas tank it is not close enough to cause any problems
just take a look at the picture i took,

If its hitting the leaf spring, then probably the only solution is to remove the leaf spring.
