  • Tire Preferences

There really was no section for this, and I see some older recommendation threads, BUT to be more up to date what are you guys running lately for tires? What do you like and what holds up well?

I need a set of 4 or I need to buy two new KDW's to match my rears... Now the problem with that is the rears are not of the same condition as two new fronts would be, they are much older and show slight signs of cracking from age... SO it's either just buy two KDW's now, and buy two more soon... OR buy 4... OR go with a different brand tire that may perform the same but be a little cheaper than $544 for 4 of them....

I'm looking for a 225/45/17 so keep that size in mind since I know some brands/companies don't make all the sizes.

I'm looking for a nice riding, but also performing summer only tire, No need to be super sticky either since I have my BF goodie DR's for at the strip.

    Mastercraft......

    they're cheap.......

unfortunately they last forever so i can't justify getting another set. about the worst brand of tires i've ever touched.

i've heard good things about whatever its called from michelin, triple tread, assurance tread, whatever the hell its called, has 3 different treads, thats all i know. can't tell you what prices they would be though.

I really really liked my KDW's I have on the 92. Oldskool liked his Eagle F1's. My Kumho Ecsta 712's were ok, but nothing to write home about.

I'm leaning toward the Falken Azenis RT 615's since I can get 4 of those to my door for $476....

I liked my Eagle F1s when I had 'em, and I really haven't driven long enough on my Potenza RE-01Rs to formulate an opinion yet (except that they are suprisingly quiet yet sticky as flypaper). I have also heard the Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs are the cat's meow.

I got the Hancook Ventus HR2 tires, 245/50/16 on my TGP and I absolutely love them, they handle amazing and provide a very nice ride. I got em shipped to my door for 385 from discounttiredirect.com.

i guess the dunlops are SLIGHTLY better than the falkens. who knows if you would even notice a difference between the two

                do you plan to autox?

Probably not because it's an auto and all.. But I would like a tire that can hold up to just about anything I could throw at it and the falkens are looking good for that aspect. But well see, I also want something that will ride well.

I recently switched from my factor 225 60R 16's to 245 45ZR 18's. I chose the General Exclaim UHPs for what I thought was an excellent value.

My ride improved exponentially compared to those crappy old Good Years I had on there.

Definately give them a look, Tirerack.com has all the specs and reviews.

Ended up with Falken FK 452's

Conceived by a company whose vision is relentless and developed for the VIP automotive purist; Falken's new FK series line of Luxury Sports tires is clearly the new benchmark for JDM and European Luxury tuners.

FK Series Luxury Sports tires are the product of continual evolution and refinement which occurs at the highest levels of automotive tuning. Micro-Low profile sizes and revolutionary construction specifications provide the foundation for premium import, European, and Domestic full and mid sized vehicle tuning.

"The core objective of this development project focused on the obvious absence of luxury automotive merchandise and the untapped tuning potential of early generation luxury VIP import, European, and Domestic sedans. These early model chassis employ many of the most sophisticated power train and suspension systems available today and are poised to capitalize on the growing demands of mature automotive purists who understand the delicate balance of form and function."

Falken's world debut of the FK Series ushers in a new generation of Luxury sports tires that successfully cover the application spectrum from OEM fitments to Micro-Low profile and super wide staggered fitments for wide body premium tuned automobiles.

I was actually happy to get rid of my KDW's those tires are so noisy on the road it's insaine, these falkens are nice and quiet on the highway just as they are advertised. I'm quite happy so far.

I heard that about the KDW's too. A really good tire in every other aspect, just really freakin loud. The Exclaim UHP's are nice and quiet, I'll definately buy them again.
