  • Custom intake for 3.4 SFI

Installing a 3.4L in an Isuzu Trooper. Original 2.8L was TBI, so had a round filter on top. Since the 3.4L intakes at the front, I need to put together an intake that makes a 90º turn in about six inches - so I don't have room for the leisurely turn the Camaro/Firebird intake makes (ignore markings on that picture, stole it from some website). I need something more like the 5.7L intake, preferably with the hole for the IAT sensor.

Suggestions on how to rig this up semi-proper like? I don't know how standard this throttle body shape is, is there a place where I could just order a rubber piece like that?. Once I have that 90º angle taken care of, I can go a straight run into a cone filter, perhaps a 60º into the filter to fit it to the engine bay a little better.

The 3.4L intake will be in the center, sort of on the far side of the A/C compressor in the pic - you guys know what the 3.4L intake looks like - through the current evap canister location to the front drivers side corner where the cone filter will reside.

Someday I may install a snorkel, but we'll cross that river when we get there.

some silicone couplers and some tubing should do it really, no biggy.

Yeah, perhaps this will be easier than I thought. I live in a small town and don't always expect the hardware stores to have the oddball bits for my projects. I guess this stuff is common enough that I needn't worry.
