  • Making My Own 3400 Engine Wire Harness

    Hi Guys
I just want to know how hard would it be if I made my own 3400 engine wire harness for my sunfire? because I would need to know what all sensors I would need to get to do this.

Make your own? Like from scratch? Prolly hard.

Or are you going to use a harness from a 3x00 car?

well from scratch probley because if I get it from a 3100/3400 I would still need to cut it up to make it work with my sunfire

I imagine it would still be a good idea to have a 3x00 harness as a reference to see how wires were grouped together and routed. It'd help to keep things uncluttered.

we need some more info here. what year sunfire is it going into??? what ecm do you plan to run. are you gonna run a 5 speed or auto???

honestly, id go for an 92-94 cavy wiring harness and ecm and make that work. either that or get a megasquirt and the universal wiring harness and build from there.

I agree with sharkey. I look for a harness from an older cavi (V6) and use that. Save yourself the hours of headache.

your ecu will not run a v6 and thats all there is to it. you would be best off to use a v6 j-body wiring and ecu, or go megasquirt. you will have to still figure the gauges out. the 96 cluster is controlled by a microchip in the cluster, and i beleive the ecu sends the signals out for the gauges.
