Completly custom. You'd need to use the BOP tranny, which may or may not work, since I don't know of any BOP tranny that was in a 4x4, make custom mounts, among many other things.

BOP = Buick Olds Pontiac. You got one choice and that is the TH2004R. Like raven said all custom nothing fits you will have to make it all work. Unless he is talking about a 3800 from say a Camaro. In that case the tranny will bolt up but again all custom stuff.

A 3.4L swap will yield more power with less money and is a bolt in.

BOP cases were also made for the th350.

we realy need to know weather you are reffering to a 3.8l rwd or a 3.8/3800 fwd to give any sort of answers.

Yeah, I knew what BOP was, I didn't realize they made a RWD version of the 3.8. I guess it is an old engine, though.

The 96 and up f-bodies have 3.8s in them. I have a file I can send you that talks about doing this swap into a 2nd gen s10 and what's needed.

This is a decent swap the 3.4 makes @160 hp out of the box and the f-body 3.8 makes 200hp.

As a side note the 2.8 700r4 has the same bolt battern as a 3.8. I would suggest taking the whole set up from a wrecked Camaro or Firebird and swapping it in.

Tuning a car is full of compromises. You must decide if you are willing to give up either reliability, performance, or a whole load of cash. Also remember that repairs will seem to come up much more often as you strive for even more performance

The F-Body 3.8L only makes 200 hp with its EFI system in tact. The 160 HP from the 3.4L crate is with a Carb and stock manifolds.

There is lots of cheep thing that could be done to a 3.4L that would easily out power the 3.8L.

Because of the simeple fact a 3.4L is a BOLT IN. Makes it very much worth while. Take the time and money you save then take a quarter of that and apply it to a 3.4L and your making over 200HP. Moneyclip over on s-series had 187 RWHP with only a Holley TBI and Headers. Jonh is probabalyl making that or more out of his 3.3L with a 272 cam and some other goodies.

Seriously consider the whole picture and nothing looks better than a 3.4L except and LSx engine.

you should start a new thread in the transmission forum instead of bringing back one from 3 years ago
