Need to know if it is possible to swap in a 3.1l or 3.4l crankshaft into a 2.8l. I have a 86 s-10 4x4 with a newly rebuilt 2.8l engine in it and would hate to waste the block if all i have to do is swap the crank to gain more power. Also do i need any thin special in order to do this swap(pistons, connecting rods, main bearings, connecting rod bearings, etc.

Make sure you are doing the swap with iron head pistons or you will have real low compression.
Since you have an 86 you will have an internal balance motor. So with the new crank you will need a neutral balance flywheel since all 3.1L cranks are internal balance.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

No it wont hit anything. All cranks after 88 had the reluctor ring. It will not hit the block. The reluctor ring is what gave the crank the mass required to make it internal balance.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
