3400 swap into 94 sunbird w/2.0

I have a 1994 Sunbird with a 2.0 L MPFI 3-speed auto and would like to drop in a 3400. would like to know if anyone has done it and what I would need to do the swap. Can I use the same tranny? what motor mounts? Please help.

well if hte 2.2 and the 3.1 have the same mounts
then you should be good
yeas you can use the tranny you will spin the tires like crazy though cause of the higer converter stall speed and the 3.18 gear in the differential

You cannot use the 2.0L OHC tranny behind a 3400, and it has nothing to do with gear ratios or power handling, but has everything to do with the bolt pattern of the bellhousing.

Mounts are also different.

94s didnt come with 2.0 ohc motors they came with the 2.2 ohv

Pre-90? Not sure. But check out speedvisioncavalier at j-body.org, he's got a quad in a 2nd gen of some sort.

the reason i ask is because im starting to plan a project down the road to build a turbo quad to put in an 89 or older since they only weigh 2300 pounds (supposedly). after 89 they got quite a bit heavier. i like the 90's Z24's a lot, but they're heavier than i want. i checked out that sight. its in a 91. thanks.

Shouldn't be that much of a difference in weight. 88-90 should be nearly identical.

FYI, the quad 4 will easily fit into any 82-94 Jbody. i have a 1991 cavalier with the 2.3, and i also have an 87 sunbird with the 2.3 also. it fits like it was made to go in there. just gotta weld in the tranny mount bracket and you are good.
