I've been driving the car for a few weeks now and have a few comments about the swap. First off, the horsepower change is fun. It is a lot quicker off the line and if I had it to do over again, I'd probably gone up one size in camshafts. Like the 3.1, in spite of the tach redline in the 5500 area, there's not a lot of difference in the pull once you are over 4000. That may also be an exhaust problem, but the swap has actually added some fun to an otherwise bland car.
I did the external 7X sensor and when I set it up, I set the sensor at about 6 degrees advanced. The car had a stumble off the line that I had guessed was the fuel trim not being adequate for the increased displacement, but moving the timing to TDC completely eliminated the stumble. The EGR solenoid connector has the same wiring pattern for both engines, but the lock tab is moved to the opposite side on the 3500's connector, so you can't just plug that connector in. I'd like to pull the connector pins out and put the 3100 wiring into the 3500 connector rather than cutting the lock tab off the connector.
