I'm preparing to do a head gasket on my 94 Firebird and have been looking for some performance upgrades I could do while I was working. Apparently i don't have much to work with with a 3.4 SFI. I've been looking around and found a 3400 from a 2003 Monte Carlo with 100,000 miles for $200. According to various sources this engine is supposed to get at least 20 more HP (plus it has less milage than my 152,000 2.4 SFI and may last longer). Would it be a direct replacement for the 3.4 that is in my Firebird? Will the Monte Carlo 3400 bolt up to a 4L60E tranny without problem?
Although the engine is in perpendicular, I'm sure my motor mounts sill bolt up to the Monte Carlo's 3400? Will there be sensor problems or anything like that?
What all would I have to do to make it work?
Here is some info about the 2003 Monte Carlo - http://www.new-cars.com/2003/chevrol...rlo-specs.html
Thank you for the help and information,
Dallas
