First off I want to thank anyone that responds for your help,I know there are many other things you can be doing. I have a 2002 monte carlo that some idiot had straight water in and it cracked the block before I could get it home back in november. I am going to install a used 2004 3.4 impala engine. Is there anything that I need to know for the change over other than re using my injectors. I have been being told by salvage yards it is not compatable but they cant expand on that. I have been looking at similiar threads but want to make sure. Once again Thank you for all your help.

I have also heard that the Impala engine was not compatible with most other swaps in the early 00 model years. Other than the AIR tube in the heads that I found on my friend's 00 Monte Carlo, I cannot expand on this. You may want to look at the Monte Carlo Grand Prix swap thread I started and see if any of those problems apply to your situation...

As long as you get an engine without the AIR crap, then it should be pretty straight forward. About the only differences between the 00+ 3100 and 3400 is the displacement, and the fact that one says 3100 and the other says 3400. It should basically be plug and play. They are both W-body cars, so even the mounts should be the same.-Brad-
