    how do you adjust the valve lash on a 2.8l v6? i just put a new rebuilt engine into my 1984 jeep cherokee and need the information on adjusting valve lash.
    84 Jeep Cherokee: brand new rebuilt 2.8l v6, edelbrock performer manifold, 4 barrel 390cfm holley carb(4160), 31\" BFG A/T, 4\" lift, pacesetter headers, dynoflow exhaust, oil cooler, 904 3-speed tranny, stock 3.73 gears

    Put each lifter on the base circle of the cam as you rotate the engine by hand. When you reach this point tighten the nut until you just feel resistance on the pushrod and all play has just been removed. This is called ZERO LASH this is where each valve needs to be when adjusting. Once you have reached zero lash add 1 turn to the nut and leave it be. If they are poly lock nuts then tighten the lock and you are done. Do this 1 at a time in order going up on head and then up the other so you do not lose your spot.
