    Hi There,
I'm new to this site and checking it out it appear the most of you are front wheel drive guys but I'm hoping some one may be able to help me out with my proposed project,I recently aquired a 1992 Camaro RS with a really cool 3100 Tuned Port engine with a T-5 trans, runs great, really spunky little engine, gets great gas milage, very fun to drive with the 5spd,car body's rotten and I don't really like the 3rd gen Camaro that much anyway,I have access to a 78 Malibu 2dr hardtop and am thinking very hard about transplanting the drivetrain, the cars weigh within a couple hundred pounds and if I use the same gearing I should have about the same performance, the problem I'm looking at is the injection/igmition wiring,I would like to loose anything that does'nt have to do with the actual operation of the engine,
mainly delete the exhaust manifold mounted EGR valve and it also has one on the air filter housing,I don't have emission testing where I'm at so that's not a concern but I bet even a stripped down injection system would sniff cleaner than anything with a carb,I also understand this engine family was used in S10 trucks & Blazers so if anyone knows if those exhaust manifolds would work with this combo I'd appreciate any info, any help, info or insight into this quest would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks Killerdave

That would be an iron head 3.1, just so you aren't confusing yourself with the newer aluminum head 3100s.

Anyways, sounds like an interesting project! There are plenty of RWD guys on here as well, so hopefully someone will be able to chime in. But to answer your last question, I think that the S-truck manifolds would fit just fine. In a 78 Malibu you should have plenty of space to work with as far as the exhaust setup goes.

Oh yeah, and welcome to the site! As you get this project going, I'd love to see some pics!
