  • Euro with 3.4dohc; is it still a VIN "X"?

I haven't seen any of these myself but I am told there are some 4 door Euro Luminas with the 3.4 tdc motor; are they still a VIN X or are they something else? Anyone know for sure?
And what year(s) they were made?

They were made, and all 3.4 DOHC cars are vin X. I don't know the years, but would imagine they are the same as the Z34 lumina cars, 91-94, maybe 95.

      thx, Ben
I presume they were the same performance figures and avail with the same transmissions then? That opens up a small extra possibility for parts etc.

They are identical to the 2 doors for power and transmission.

I don't think they were offered in 94, but don't quote me on that.

And how could you get a Euro 3.4 in 1995??? The MCZ34 was the only Monte Carlo to get the 3.4L DOHC. The LS only got the 3100 and no 5-speeds were available after 1993.

Luminas came with the DOHC's till they (the DOHC's) were discontinued I believe. They weren't Euro's though... I think they were LTZ's? Something like that.

Tue, but they were not Euros. And the LS Lumina had the 3.4 option too.

I thought the Euro 3.4 cars were all 4 door cars, and also a couple hundred pounds lighter. I remember reading this way back on GMF where a guy with a 5 speed Z34 ran a Euro 3.4 and suprized the Euro guy because he didn't know they made 5 speed Z34s, and he said the Euros were a couple pounds shy of the 2d coupe cars. Also I thought the Euro 3.4 cars were only made a couple of years. There is one in the local junkyard, maybe I should go check it out to find the year of it.

The 4 door is heavier than the 2 door, but becuz of the Z34s extensive standard options and body styling, it might have weighed sligthly more.

Has anybody heard tell of a 5spd Euro 3.4?

Very possible but even more rare than the regular Z's or GTP's since the 3.4L was a exclusive option on the Euro.

Those lower body panels can't possibly weigh more than 20 lbs altogether

WELL looks like this is a valid source of parts. I wonder about things like sway bars; what treatment did they get there? And maybe brakes, too........ and the computer and trans (wanna find another 284 for backup)......
so we should summarize all this!!!!

                              Go hunt

From what I believe the Euro 3.4 had to have the same suspension treatment especially on the front, I don't know on the back..

Everything the is engine, brake, suspension related can be used on all w-bodies from 1988-1994 for sure some parts might go farther up in year.
