Hi all im new here and im in the middle of trying to build a 3.4/3400 for my 88 firebird. Will the dohc pistons give me the right compression to run a 3.4/3400 hybrid off a 1986 2.8 firebird computer? also ive searched but cant find directions on wiring up DIS? Does anybody have this info

what do you mean by right compression?
if you use the 3400's pistons it'll be 9.6:1, the 3.4 Camaro pistons will be like 12:1, the DOHC's will be like 13:1 or higher..
what is the service number on your computer, 1227730? Either way it'll need to be tuned..

IIRC, he should have the '7727 MAF ECM with the 2.8. The MAP based '7730 wasn't used until 1990 in the Fbody.
BMX, welcome to 60*
You want to use the 3400 pistons as Dave mentioned if you just want to use the top end, and keep it simple.
There are no "directions" to wire the DIS, but it is an easy conversion. The ICM is looking for the same signal as your distributor is, and you just need to add a wire...
I recognize you from TGO, I'm firstfirebird there

Ok thanks FF, I also recognized you great to see some familiar faces lol. Im not really great at reading and understanding the wiring diagrams but im sure if i stare at em long enough ill figure it out. Im sure it will also help to have the coilpacks and old distributor stuff infront of me I just got my cam in now all i need is the pistons, oh and the block of course! Little by little im getting closer and closer... I cant wait!
