1999 3.4 into a 2004

Hi guys, newbie here.
I looked through the previous threads and did not see a like post.
I have a 2004 3.4 that is bottom end damaged.
I have acquired (for FREE!!) a complete 1999 3.4 out of a GA.
First what I want to do is just use the short block and install my 04 heads, oilpan , accessories etc.... onto the 1999 S/B.
Does anyone know of differences? The gasket kits are different (part numbers at least)
OR other idea would be could I use the long block from the 1999 and just swap external accessories (oil pan, upper and lower intake, etc.....)
The 1999 alledgely just needed lower intake gaskets (Oil/water milkshake).
I would have heads checked etc....
OR should I just get one from a 2004 from the boneyard, and be through with it.

afaik it should work, i think the only diffrences on the 2 engines was the heads? (larger ports on the newers)

altho, i could be compleatly wrong on this either way, free bump, im sure someone else will chime in soon.
