  • Intake swap when changing engines

    Hi y'all

Just found this site ! Great info. Here's a question for you.

My 98 Grand Am GT threw a rod.
I picked up a 3100 from a 95 Olds. The Olds motor uses a different throttle body and EGR. than the GA/GT
I know that the 98 uses roller rockers and the 95 does not, so my question is can I swap both the upper & lower intake from the 98 (bad motor) to the 95 (good motor)
Will there be any clearance problems using the lower intake from the roller rocker motor ? or should I just swap the upper to the new motor ?

Is there any need to change front covers ?

Either way, I want to do the LIM gasket will the MS98004T gasket set work for both the 98 & 95 3100's

    Thanks for looking

    Jay

The 98 is small port intakes right? No need to swap lower intake manifold, just swap upper for EGR to bolt up to.

Unless the lower coolant pipe attachment is different between 95 and 98, I don't know about N bodies.

Yeah i think thats the right metal gasket #. Small port.

Either way if the 98 is small port intakes, it will all match up to the 95 heads fine.
