So swaping my 2.8L to the 3.1. The block I order is for a rear wheel drive. They told me it was a Vin T for a Rodeo but its not. Its a camaro block so here is the short story. I am looking where to stick the knock sensor cus troopers get them and to chap my ass the block has no mount point. (Now known troopers are pretty much front wheel drive engines with TBI and iron heads.) So here is my logic. All the way on the other side of the block with the oil filter there are two un-used engine mounts. My thought is to drill and tap one of these to the size of the knock sensor. Will the KS pick up if its not exactly in the same location ??? or will signal not even carry and not be worth it ???? in that case just delete the sensor all together.....

likley to close to the timing chain and it will pick up to much noise from it. an option is to put it into the coolant drail plug hole, that is were they put them on the 80s corvette.
if the block is out of a 2.8/3.1 rwd it wont have a crank position sensor, as the rwd all use distributors (except 3.4l rwd).

Remove a drain plug on either side of the block. That is where they all go on the RWD vehicles. If you need to use a 45* elbow when mounting on the passenger side with the starter on the same side.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
