  • How to flash a *.bin file to PCM?

I use HPTuners but I need to flash a bin file to my pcm.

I don't need any scanning abilities, hence HPTSuite. I just need to flash this bin to my PCM. The issue is certain tables I NEED edited which HPT doesn't offer. Solution is to alter the files I need to and flash the bin then use HPT to further fine tune fueling.

Everytime I load the bin into HPT it gives me an OS/VIN match error. This is because the 97 bins do not contain a vin#. But I can not flash a vin to the bin w/ hpt.

If anyone knows the CHEAPEST method to simply flash a bin file, please clue me in.

OR, if someone can take my bin file and convert it to HPT WITH my VIN, that will also be just as great.

I attached my BIN. It is a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina PCM in a 96 GP.

    VIN# 2G1WL52M8V1167046
    VCM ID: 8N6W057038
    VCM OS ID: 16245158

HP Tuner can flash a bin file, you need the correct vin info put in the bin file and then you should be good to go.

It was a bit more complicated then that but all is well now. I had to insert the VIN via hexadecimal editor into the bin code. TT wouldn't put the VIN in a 97 PCM and HPT is a ***.hpt file. But HPT wouldn't flash the bin w/o a VIN. I needed the bin, not the hpt file, so TT could edit other tables HPT didn't offer.

It was a catch 22 all the way. After I inserted the VIN I flashed it, tested it and all worked well. Found out it messed up some of the table or code for the supercharger settings. Which weren't used so I lucked out.

I am considering a MSIII system with EGT's for each cylinder to keep the injectors balanced.

      Thanks anyways

What tables do you need HPTuner to add?

They were Map Sensor Offset and Map Scaling Factor, most importantly. For 2 bar Map. I have already included this request in the specific thread regarding and also on HPT forum.

But being the perfectionist I try to be, in theory, I need access to every table. Unless HPT will do that, doubtful, I'll have to stick with VIN hacking or go MSIII.

I gotta say, MSIII is looking like the better option day by day. Especially if I build an EGT system with 7 sensors.
