Well, I just got done working with my guru Russ on converting my 96 harness to work with my 92 car. At first, I thought I'd make a write-up on how to do it. After tonight, that's out of the question. Why? Every car, every year, every brand, has these little innane differences that you're just gonna have to figure out for yourself. I can provide some general hints:
1) Get a 96 or 97 harness if you can, and get it specifically for your motor.
2) Make sure the harness is a compatible brand. For example, if you have a Buick, Olds, or Pontiac, get one of those harnesses, they're all compatible. Chevy harnesses, while GM, are completely different. So if you have a Chevy, use a Chevy harness, or prepare to have a migraine.
3) OBD I harnesses have 3 grounds running through C100. OBD II harnesses have 0. Enjoy!
If you have a manual, I can tell you what wires to change for your starter and backup lights, so I guess I'm good for something!
