  • Need a chip

Hey maybe the PMs aren't working or something, but Ben, I need you to mess with my chip a bit more.

I want my IAC, Idle Air Control valve removed and my EGR removed. This means 2 less SES codes I have to worry about. So can I get your address and a price, if any, to do this?

    Thanks

I don't think I can just turn off the IAC. Its not like the EGR...its a pretty important aspect for the computer to be able to control the idle air...for decel and idle.

Well I still want you to turn off my EGR. If you can turn the IAC off, do so. If not, I'll unplug it and deal with the SES light. Or hell maybe I'll just zip tie it to the firewall and leave it plugged in

As for my idle, I am going to be using the mechanical idle, which uses stop screws on the throttle linkages to stop the plates.

So can you PM me your address?

      Thanks

PM sent. Yeah, decel is gonna suck, so is cold idle. I don't think I can just kill the IAC. I can 0 out its values and all but its still gonna look for it.

Ok I'll have my chip to you sometime....depending when I go back to CO next.

The idle will be bad, but it can't get much worse than it is

I will set it around 1200, and then like turning on an accessory will probly drop it to like 800 or so

I will figure it out. So for now just leave it on, I'll bolt it to my firewall or my blinker fluid.

*edit*So I'm the het now huh? wtf.......

Its a metallica thing with that title.

Why don't you just incorporate the IAC?

Nah I'll just let it open and close itself 100 times a minute with no results

Actually I've been replanning the vacuum system, and it looks as if I will be incorporating the IAC, just in a different fashion than I previously thought. How it will work is like this. There will be a 1/16" or 1/8" vacuum line coming from each throttle body. These 6 come together into a single 1/4", or maybe even 3/8", line that plugs into a sheetmetal vacuum box that I will build. Onto this box the MAP sensor gets bolted, the brake line gets plugged into, and all other vacuum lines run into it. Also on this box will be the new IAC. It is a aftermarket one. From one side you attach a small filter, liek those riceboy ones that they put off their valve cover for 186hp, and on the other side runs a 1/2" line to the vacuum box. Then it plugs in with the stock wiring. At first I will probly not use this, I will keep the mechanical idle just so I can play with them and set the mechanical(approximate) idle. Then once I have the car running I will add the IAC. How does this sound?

Ben, as for my chip, I will still be sending you one, but don't expect it until X-mas time. I'm gonna use my current chip, not the factory one tho, for now. And I will just not worry about the SES code for the EGR. I actually hope that this won't give me a SES light, and it shouldn't. But it will, I know it.

As for fuel, we messed around with the numbers today, and I don't think it will run THAT lean over stock. The factory fuel system should be able to handle up to about 94% throttle. But not 100. So I figure I am just going to up the fuel pressure a little bit and go from there.

Now how much is my stock fuel pressure? 1992 rail, injectors, pump, etc. And how much is the maximum on the injectors?

Thanks a bunch guys, this will be one kcik ass setup if I ever get it tuned/working

Stock pressure is 43 PSI (rating). At WOT, its closer to 49 PSI, but idle is 43...though yours could be 35 and still be in range.

Ok so what is your best educated guess on the max psi I can run without causing damage to the pump and/or injectors?

maybe 65-70...but I think you will be ok at 55 with the intake and headers...and some serious tuning as well. I dont think you will get away with just a pressure increase on the computer end.
