88 Corsica 2.8 5 speed. 7730 ecm, pretty much bone stock.
Symptoms:
Speedometer not working, weird idle/won't idle, backfires every time you touch the gas, bucks like a bronco at light throttle applications. Engine fan runs constantly when the key is on.
No SES/CEL, no stored codes. (using the jumper wire method)
History:
Drove it to work today, everything was fine. Went to leave work, started it and the idle was jumping from ~400 rpm to ~1300 rpm every second or so. Pulled out of the parking spot, the speedometer wasn't working, stopped to turn on the road and it stalled. Restart was tough, died immediately after it started. Treating it like a cold natured carbed car allowed me to make it to the next stop, where it stalled again. Etc.
It's drivable but I'm pretty sure one of the backfires blew my muffler apart as it's twice as loud as it normally is.
Pretty sure it's ECM failure, but I'd like to be wrong.
