  • Help with removing my 4000rpm rev limiter!

I just finished the 5speed swap on my 1995 grand prix se. I have the range switch plugged in and set to park at all times. Everything works perfect minus the limiter. Anyone know how to give it the limiter like it's in n or drive without throwing a code or making it not start?

IIRC the engine will still start even if the ECM thinks the transmission is in gear. The P/N safety just breaks the voltage going to the starter on the '95 W bodies... at least it did on the '95 Lumina 3100. I would leave the range selector in Drive all the time and bypass the section for the starter safety switch.

It has been a few years so I will have to look for the diagram and my notes when I get to the shop. It sucks getting old.

I didn't find the good diagram but the Haynes book shows the wires as Yellow and Purple going in and out of the switch. IIRC, they were very large gauge compared to the other wires. Hope that helps.

The wires are a different size and color on the other side of the connectors. I always thought that was weird. I guess ill connect the purple and yellow and see what happens. Ill keep you guys updated.
