i was wondering how to go about this upcoming project that i will be taking on slowly but surely and very soon. i have the computer from the buick park avenue ultra that i plan on putting her engine in my alero. i am able to get the whole wiring harness for $20+ lots of time to rip it out of the car in the junkyard if wanted to just use the right harness. somebody told me on another forum i would have to use the pinouts to get my speedometer and other gauges to work right. it will most likely get tuned by dhp. how much work am i really getting myself into here?

Well lots of work I'd say. I have heard of one guy on the v6z24 board who is running the l67 motor with his original 3.1mpfi ECM and turbo grand prix code with a 2 bar map.... So possibly you could do something like that but probably best to use a ECM that was designed for the l67 since you have a newer car..
The 1995 probably had a vacuum controled line pressure on the trans, and your 2001 is fully electronic. Plus 1995 can't be tuned. Best to get the wiring and ECM from a 1997 GTP or something, and then figure out the pin-outs and stuff. The GTP had a 4t65-eHD but I'm guessing that it's ECM could control your 4t45-e.....
It's not going to be easy either way. If I were you I'd look into swapping a getrag from a late cavilier with the axles and pedals and linkage from a manual grand am or alero. The getrag is the strong trans mission to get but not sure if they were ever offered in a late N body like yours so some mixing and matching might be in order.
Then you wouldn't have to worry about transmission control, plus you'd have a stronger trans.
Might as well just keep your 3400 though and turbo it then and get a DHP for it.
But yeah 94-95 are OBD1 (so DHP doesnt work) BUT you can't remove the prom to re-burn it with a new one like the older ones... so they are worthless for tuning.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Will the 4T65-E even fit inside the alero? I know the 65 is even larger than the 60 that's in my car. And your car has the even smaller 45-e.... You'll need custom length axles if anything... and you'll need a different year computer if you want to be able to tune the thing.... I'm pretty sure that it's gonna be the OBD1.5 crap. Unless it has a removable prom but probably doesn't.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

well is it possible to take out the whole wiring harness of the buick park ave. ultra and just add in the guage wires i need so i have the guages working and everything is still hooked up? it means sense logically speaking though since it would just be like being back in the buick park ave. just with my guages working though.Planning on doing 3800 Supercharged swap soon in either my 4cyl or 6cyl.
