  • ECM BAT fuse blowin???

Yikes!!! My 95 GP died on the freeway while I was goin about 70mph. Scared the life outta me :shakehead I got it towed back to the house and while I was looking it over, it looks like my "ECM BAT" fuse blew out. I replaced it with another 20 amp fuse and it ran for about 10 mins, then it died again. I checked it out and again, the ecm bat fuse blew. I replaced it with another and it instantly blew out. I think I went through 5 before I gave up :banghead: What could cause my "ECM BAT" fuse to blow up like that??? Any help is greatly appreciated.

A short somewhere is the most likely cause. Start looking for burned wires under the dash and in the engine bay.

      Found out something else...

I believe you're on the money bszopi! I checked out the wiring diagram and it looks like the "ECM BAT" ties into the fuel pump wiring. I isolated the wire that is shorting out. It seems that the gray wire coming out of the fuel pump relay is the culprit. If this wire shorts out, then the "ECM BAT" fuse blows. I'm assuming that this gray wire gives "juice" to the fuel pump? Whats the best way to find a short in a wire? Any pointers or help is greatly appreciated!!!

        Found it!

Yep, it was the gray wire that was grounding out. It was rubbing on the power steering pump hard lines What a PITA!
