You should be able to burn a chip and swap on a 2bar map. You may need to go to a newer ECM from a cavalier or something perhaps so you can run DIS, or maybe it's possible to still use your old ECM with the right modded code, I'm not sure, but probably can be done.

Running DIS though would be nicer since you have more control over timing/etc for boost. I'm not sure if your distributor sends the crank trigger to the ECM, and then the ECM fires a transistor to the coil or if it just is vacuum advance...

If you want to keep the stock ECM you'll need to switch to the 1985 ECM for the V6 Fiero, it has a scaled 2 bar spark table that will have to be tuned for boost, the 86 and up ECM does not, although it can be swithced for 2 bar it's no good since the spark table remains in 1 bar format.

        bought a megasquirt

        well guys,

thanx for your replies, seems like a 85 ecm and burning a chip would be the way to go...but...

I found a megasquirt for cheap (new)
only payed about 235$ for it.

I bought it from this guy in germany who is selling his hole store.

this way I can always adjust my settings when changes to the engine
        are made.

        thanx again

If it's MS1, you won't be able to use the stock IAC (I'm guessing it's a stepper motor type). You will either have to use MS as a piggyback or mod a fast idle selenoid to work with it. Does it have the spark control circuitry?

I have MSII on my Fiero, but it is not a 2.8 any more. If you decide to keep the MSI you don't have to run the IAC if you don't want. You can adjust your idle with the fast idle screw, and after you get the engine to idle at a consistent speed you can go into your spark tables and cause the spark to advance when the idle goes below some specified point it will accelerate the engine and then re-stabilize. It is not the best solution but it works.

That or you can just upgrade to the MSII chip for a few bucks (fairly cheep), and keep the IAC control.

well..eh as it looks now I'll probably fetch me something from volkswagen
they al work with IAC..so finding one would not be any problem .

but I'm still in the build up fase of my engine.

                thanx turbo GT.

MS1 supports a fast idle selenoid, it is explained in the manual and even gives part numbers of selenoids that will work. They also talk about using an EGR seleniod.
