Hey I've been wondering... My car doesn't have the proper mounting points for a crank trigger for use with factory DIS ignition. I know it could be fabricated or adapted with medium difficulty. (and I saw and really like the external trigger on this site's store however my motor is an older one and the brackets are wrong)
I have instead gone with a MSD-6A ignition amplifier controlled by the existing module and ECM. Is this setup as strong as a Delco DIS setup? It made a world of difference in high RPM power, versus a plain 1-coil HEI distributor.
In the future I plan to build up a newer turbo motor and will probably go
DIS at that time.
Just curious what everyone's thoughts are on this. I'm mainly thinking about issues with a 15 plus PSI boosted motor over 5500 RPM.
Thanks,
David
