  • Parting out 1989 Z24 Cavalier-Bye to my baby!

1989 Z24 CONVERTIBLE parting out. Top is excellent, tranny strong, engine needs replacing/rebuilding as it is locked up internally (possible dropped valve).

5 speed manual tranny was rebuilt properly in Baltimore 4-5 years ago. Top replaced about a year earlier. Trunk and hood are straight, all glass intact except windshield. Power motors/regulators bad. Wheels are original "square centercap" types, and are structurally sound. I would have them refinished for any restoration purposes, however. Doors are straight, but useful only for skins. Car was a daily driver until Thursday when motor locked up-turns about 240 degrees and stops solid, so it's munched something major in the head or bottom end. I suspect a dropped valve due to improper engine installation by Davids Professional Automotive here in Beltsville. They didn't adjust rocker arms after installation (and a host of other things), and once it was remedied there was a tick left that wouldn't/couldn't go away. Ran strong for 125k miles, so.....

Car has too many issues and too much body damage to consider rebuilding, so off it goes in buckets, bags, and boxes.

I don't have the time or inclination to pull this apart myself, but if it's worth it for the both of us, I may be able to get somebody to pull it for you at your expense.

Car is located in Beltsville Maryland.
