  • Yet another TGP Turbo transplant...

Ive browsed thru the boost forums...

At any rate I just picked up this setup from the local junkyard.

I have a 1988 Beretta GT. I just did an engine/trans swap to another 2.8 with about 100K on it I was told...

Anyhow Im looking to add this turbo setup to my 2.8 From what I have read lately this turbo isnt the cats ass, which is fine. I would just like more power out of my 2.8 and the rights to say it has a turbo, albeit a small one.

    lol

Im sure I will have some questions when the time nears. Hopefully I will start tearing into it this week.

The car this is going in is soley a project car, not a needed car. Just thought I would throw that in so everyone is aware Im not trying to hype up my dads car....lol

you can buy a GT28/40R from ATP turbo. It has the stock exh bolt pattern so you can bolt it to your stock crossover, but has a T4 intake side with a GT35R wheel. Will make huge power.

hey shaun, you running dope and a blower? If so, did you or should you run a timing retard kit/box like from jacobs or something? Because now I curious as to how to hook the damn thing up? For that matter, are our stock coils strong enough with boost and dope?
sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

Probably if you make the spark plug gap a little smaller. TGP swap, search lots have done it. You need various things, probably get someone to burn you a chip with TGP code on it would be easiest for computer.
Crossover will probably have cracks, and will need modded to clear the transmision bracket or the bracket modded. Need 2bar map from the car, injectors etc.

Currently Im trying to visualize where I want it to go int he bay without tearing into the motor.

Also trying to figure out what to do fir an intercooler. I have no ground effects on my car...

Also does the intercooler get plumbed in with the radiator or is a totally different stand alone cooler?

Heh, it goes infront of the radiator. Air goes in one side, out the other. That's it. You don't want it touching the radiator, you want as much space between them as possible so the hot radiator doesnt heat up the intercooler.

YOu can use a t3 on the TGP x-over. Just redrill for the holes and alighn the flinge. TurboZ24 knows a welder that can make you a new x-over that will clear your stock tranny mount.

.....Also.. the 2.8s pistons are more HD than the 3.1s. This is a good start. You can use the stock oil pump also. No need for a HV unless its a big oil cooled t4 or Holset.

Well decided to sell the setup off.

There are just to many concerns...

Also Im putting about 400 Lbs of Audio in the car, so why bother trying to make it fast?

                  lmao

                      Yes sir.

I will admit, its a very novel idea.

But trying to make the car fast with all the audio is simply a waste.

                      Audio is #1 priority.

#2 is making the car road worthy

                      #3 making it run properly

                      #4 is performance...

My audio system isn't that heavy for what it is. Actually my amp to my speakers weighs more than my sub. I could power them with my HU at decently loud levels no problem. But I like to crank it so the car next to me on the highway can hear the music with my windows down
Click here to see what my audio is.

I only own one car so I don't have a project car to make fast, and then keep audio in my daily driver. So I choose a comprimise. Decent audio that isn't mind blowing, but is plenty good to hurt your ears, but doesn't take up much weight either. That way my DD is still quick or at least decently quick.

Well in my beretta there will be 20 4" speakers and 8 3/4" tweeters between both doors.

A single 15" sub in a massive 6-10 cubic foor ported box. Looking at 4 batteries now at this point...

Also forgot to mention 100 Sq Ft of sound dampening... Plus jute...

So ya theres a good 400+ Lbs...
