  • my turbo 3100 project

5 psi. 2000 3100. 9:1 c/r. Ported/polished heads. Custom headers/y pipe/down pipe. MSD dis 4 and 6562 digital btm piggybacked to stock pcm. MSD coils/wires. Intercooled (FMIC).Bored .030" . JE pistons, pins and rings. ARP rod bolts. Balanced and blueprinted. Stainless in/ex valves. Hypertech external fuel pump, accufab 2:1 fpr, T3-T04e turbo (super 60).Blitz b.o.v. 24# injectors (way undersized) which is why I am only running 5 psi. I have 36# injectors, just have not installed them yet. Autometer boost and air/fuel guages in A pillar pod. Boost comes on @ about 2800 rpm. No 1/4 times, but I clocked 0-60 in close to 7 seconds. Wanna see?

I would love to see some pics of it...what car is it in? Sounds like a fun project. Time to get some injectors and crank the boost up! I have my stock 22lb/hr in mine, and they must be maxxed out, I'm running 10psi...

This car started life as a plain ol 94 Grand Am GT. I have had fun fabbing everything, from the headers to the fuse panel mounted on the left shock tower. Never know until you try, you know?

The stock PCM code will not handle a much larger injector at idle very well at all. The MSD 6563 has the fuel adder (i.e. additional injectors) which would be a much better solution to fueling a forced induction retrofit using the stock PCM code. Should be quite easy to plumb the 3400 intake to accept an additional injector. Send the guys at MSD a pic of that nice looking powerplant, and they would likely swap you out to a 6563 for free.

looks pretty sweet. I'm assuming the headers are equilength?

I have debated a standalone for while. I know the pulse width at idle will still dump fuel with the 36# injectors, so I wanted to see how much I can get away with using the stock pcm and the 24# injectors. Apparently not much.
Headers are not equal length. I know the short primarys (#5 & #6) are going to run a little lean because of the scavenging effect of the turbo, but these are my first set of headers I ever made. I now think I can make a set of equal length because these really werent that bad, and I have a little bit of experience.

Here are some pics of the intercooler and headers.

Looks EXCEPTIONALLY nice. I'm jealous. I never pulled my engine out of the car, so it looks pretty bad compared to yours....

I hope you get the fuel figured out so you can make some serious power!

Thanks for the compliments! I am lucky enough to have a wife that allowed me to build the engine in the living room!! It worked out great; I was home while I was at work. Took about a week and a half to assemble everything, so it wasnt too bad.
