  • EGR valve under boost

Can someone explain the modes an EGR valve goes into from idle to WOT? I need to know if running boost with the stock EGR setup will merely set codes, or cause damage to the valve.
    This is on a 3400 V6.

    TIA......

the EGR is only active at cruse RPM's under light load, it's closed at all other times.

        Thanks for the replies.

In the Magnuson Gen 4 supercharger kit, it included an adapter that rerouted the EGR tube to the blower inlet. I was trying to find out the reason that was done. If anything, it seems that would make the EGR system less effective than the stock location. And that was originally a low-boost application, 5-6 psi or so.

I am just going to block that port on the S/C and not use the EGR

yeah, sucking fresh air in threw the egr basically defeats the point of a EGR, right?. id leave it in stock location or block it off.

well if its 96 or newer, depending on where you live at, id leave it alone for emissions and inspections, plus if your regular driver i would because it works on on cruising speeds of lower rpm's. it will help with gas
