Just wondering if the new map sensors used in the L32 series 3 3800 are interchangeable with the old 2 bar map sensors, on lets say an OBD1 system. It looks to me like they are physically the same as the 3500 map sensor, so anyone running a 3500 turbo could use them in the stock location.

the ecu will not understand anything over 1 bar. if you swap it you will have to change the ECU code to 2bar as well..Shane "RedZMonte"

I didn't ask for turbo tuning 101, I'm quite aware of what needs to be changed within the prom. All I want to know is if the new style sensor is backwards compatible with the older ecus. For awhile people weren't sure if the 3500's stock map sensor could be used on an obd1 system, and it was later proven that they work just fine. So I want to know if the same holds true with the 2 bar maps.

I'd say it will work if it is indeed a 2 bar.
The supercharged cobalts that had that style had two sensors, IIRC. The MAP was less than 2bar, like 1.5, but the "baro sensor" was 2bar... There was a thread a while back I believe on an LS1 forum since the LS1 uses the same style as the 3500 and they were looking for that style in 2bar.
It should work fine.sigpicNew 2010 project (click image)
