  • O2 Sensors

Currently have an obd1.5 set up, with the 255 lph pump and fmu for adjusting for the boost. But anyways, with a rear down pipe block off, the stock o2 in the stock position will only read 2-3 cylinders, will this set a code? And I'm also assuming it will total screw up how it runs. So suggestions? What did you guys do? I'm guessing the answers will be plug the bung, drill in the down pipe, weld a new bung, put o2 there and convert to obd2 after putting another o2 after the cat... But hoping I'll get another answer .

Reading only a few cylinders isn't a problem if the engine is running good and all cylinders are the same. But it might not get much flow since the O2 is more towards the exit of the manifold there. Might be better to place somewhere more in the flow path.

If you go OBDII don't worry about a 2nd o2 for the cat, just remove the code cause the whole point of OBDII is to tune, so you can just edit out that stupid code.

Definately weld in a new bung. Its easy and will give you proper readings. There's really no reason not to do it.

Isaac is correct. Im not using the 2nd O2 sensor on my OBDII swap either. Atleast not the stock one. I have a 2nd wideband but that doesnt count.

The car will run fine on the O2 sensor where it is.....but only until something goes wrong. If one of the cylinders that isnt read goes lean you wont have a clue and neither will the ECM. It wont bump up the fuel in any of the cylinders. It will continue to run it lean. Lean = melted pistons.

It's up to you, but I'd move it.

Lean = mean, until melted J/p.

I'm looking really hard into a megasquirt piggy back... Use the stock ECM for speedo, tach, odo, abs, etc. Then megasquirt for injector pulse width, spark retard/advance, etc. So I will probably put the turbo on with everything stock, then run low boost until I can get a megasquirt. Then use a wideband in the down pipe for the megasquirt.
