  • Need some input on turbo

Hey all.. I have just got to have a turbo :P I was curious if a turbo charger from a mid 80's dodge would work... I am not asking for alot of boost, mainly want the sound, and little extra power,I wasnt wanting to push anything more that 3~5 psi..

I was curious if obd1.5 would put up with that small amount of boost, untill I get my obdII stuff in? I've rebuilt alot of engines, but Never messed with turbos,I am not even sure how to hook one up,Gotta learn fast:P Is there a how to on installing a trubo??

    Thanks
    Russ

Depends on what turbo it is its eather a T2 or a T3 and way too small. you would choke your engine! keep in mind it would be off a 2.2L or a 2.4L 4cyl. you need a big T3. reasurch the 1989-90 Trubo Grand Prix (TGP) design. its not hard if you have the right equipment/resources.

And wait until you can tune. Any amount of boost needs a way to adjust for it.

5psi boost you should be fine w/ a walbro 255lph HP pump and FMU. i ran mine like that for over a year before my OBDII swap and 42# injectors.

Hi I would get a .60/.63 t3 and call it done.

on one of my runs i had 260hp and 249tq on OBDI/FMU and 5psi. OBDII and 42.5# injectors 289.9hp and i think it was 270tq on 7psi.

TimG has the same setup as me and on 10psi he put down i think 325hp and 350tq.

Thanks for the link but I don't think I could make as much as you at the same psi on a 3100.

My old TGP with a downpipe and intake i mustered up 215hp/tq on stock boost. and the 3100 has better heads and intake, ect... And i had a bad O2 sensor so i was RICH RICH RICH... so you should be probibly 220-230hp on low boost and a 3100.
