rear mounted, or remote mount turbos actualy work quite well for mild boost applications. the long charge pipe acts as an intercooler. you need a syphon pump to pull the oil back to the motor.

theory says they shouldnt work well at all, but in practice, they do work alright, just dont expect to make the most power out of them. if you are shooting for insane power goals, then put the turbo up front. remote mount setups usualy use a smaller turbo to help with the little bit more lag they have mounted at the back. when you go with a large turbo for maximum power, that lag would be greatly increased.

That's made for an LS1 and the turbo is way too small for any V8, same turbo I have and is going to run out of effeciency at 18PSI on a 3.1.

With a V6, you have plenty of room between the radiator and water pump to fit the turbo and wouldn't have to deal with lag (V6 has no torque compared to the ls1).

How much is it, I didn't see price?

its way overpriced, i think its like 5grand or something like that.
i def wouldnt buy a kit, was just wondering how practical something like that is

$3895 without fuel upgrade +$845 for a bust-a-pump and injectors.

I'm selling the turbo pipes for a 3rd gen fbody for $400 (no turbo,BOV or WG) including the intercooler. If you are close, I'll help you turbo your car for a lot less cash.

I foreget location is not located under our usernames, lol. I'm in South Florida. If I could find somebody with a 4th gen Fbody near here, I would make a kit for the 60*'s.

from what i understand, its not that hard, i think i read somewhere u can flip the manifolds around, boltup the turbo's, and a little piping and your good to go, we have a customer at work who does custom piping for little riceburners, i might see if he will let me use his shop for a bit, see what i can fit-up, only issue is my #4 injector took a crap on my this morning, cars running like crap, time for new injectors lol

I've never liked the rear mount turbo systems, but they can be a good way to go turbo if there's no possible way to do it under the hood. I would probably go SC before doing a rear mount turbo though.

I think that the rear mounted set up is good for larger displacement motors where space is a problem. (And you cant beat that sound) But for smaller displacement motors, the closer the turbo to the headers the better.
