It's not just here, it's many many forums. A lot of discussion has moved to Facebook groups for some reason. And the information retention there is awful at best

THANK YOU! I'm not the only one who feels that way.
People just want things to be EASY and apparently visiting a forum and generating a post and clicking submit just isn't easy anymore. The death of these forums is somewhat like death of chat rooms... But with a forum over a chat room we gained so much ability to store and organize how to's and such... with facebook we loose all of that... I see no gain other than laziness.
I agree on the facebook thing... it is horrible not only because things magically disappear, it that the people that are too f'ing lazy to actually use a forum post horse$hit advice and clutter up conversations. It's sad progress really. The Fiero groups are TERRIBLE... people bitch about PFF but it is a hell of a lot more useful than the FB groups.
Derp: My tachometer twitches and it just started doing that what could it possibly be?!
Herp: Have you checked your valve lash?

On streaming social networks, people can post whatever they want and only be "booted" from only the group.
For Forums, when people act like asshats, they can get "booted" by IP.
Then factor in the laziness, mobile technology, and instant responses (whether answered right or wrong) . Forums get benched.
I cant stand car conversations on FB and instagram. Such misinformation being tossed around. Atleast I have an avatar to hide behind in forums so I can call them out on their stupidity and not have them stalk me to Timbuktu.
Facebook sucks. I was a member for about 3 months. Its just a complete waste of time. If I want to know what my friends are up to I will pick up the phone and ask them or I will go visit for some real human interaction. Other than that I don't care what all the burnouts I went to high school with are doing these days. I don't want to be updated when someone feels happy or sad or if they need to take a shit.
Forums are great because I can get advice and tips for the projects I like to do and I can offer what I know to other people with similar interests. Everything is organized and well presented and I don't have to sign up to a service full of a bunch of other crap I don't care about. I want to read about cars so I sign up for a site that only deals in that.
I've found Facebook to be useful for a couple things, keeping up with breweries on releases of seasonal brews, Car memes, and following random funny people like "God".
I don't follow many of my friends, just the ones that don't constantly post annoying crap. I'd un-follow my son if i wouldn't feel bad about it. haha
Yeah, I quit FB awhile ago. And then I decided to join back up to create the 60V6 page. And yeah, haven't really done a whole lot to it. But hopefully it is an avenue to let people find it on FB and then bring them here since there isn't much activity there.
On the note of not having any new messages to read, here is a couple of ideas. Take a look at New Posts in the last couple of days, and look for posts that don't have a response yet, and see if you can provide some input. Even just a little post will bump it up for others to see. I know there are times at work that I check the site via Tapatalk and don't have time to sit down and provide good feedback to some threads. By the time I do have time, I forget that the thread was even out there until someone else posts in it.
Another thing is to create a new topic (similar to what you did here ), about something that intrigues you, or you'd like to have a technical discussion on. I know that in the past we've had threads that go on for hundreds of posts discussing things like plenum design and theory, header theory, FWD wheelie bars, etc. you would be surprised how much information gets in threads like that.
