Other side
As of Sunday at 2pm... Gotta finish up fixing a PC for a friend Monday, deliver it to Hull MA then work on the car this afternoon. Should be running Monday night!
Since no one has probably heard this car before here is a quick start up vid... someone was asking how quickly my oil pressure light shuts off during start up so I made this recording... I should get a walk around when it's warm so you guys can actually hear it.
Yup, and it would be going if it didn't decide to crack its radiator... LOL. Ordered one monday hope to have it soon. Two small age/stress cracks on the top plastic tank.
So how many miles for your break in period for that motor ? Have a 2009 Forester here that is getting rebuilt because it was ran with very low oil level And great numbers !!! I would be happy too
I did 300 miles, then changed the oil then did another 1500 and change it again... I've been on that oil since and I kept it out of extended boost till I was over that 1800 total miles and had good synthetic in there... in that first 300 Yes I did hit some boost around 5-10 psi during normal driving and I hit peak a few times. Many say to keep it out of peak but I still feel if you are overly babying a break in then you really never seat the rings well, I agree to keep it out of extended periods of peak boost though because that can be a bit rough on it.
Jon did you use a high zinc break-in oil ? And this is a non turbo 2.5 And the g/f will be driving it when its finally finished at the machine shop I got word Friday that no1 crank journal was spun and started to push the bearing out of the cap !!!
Yikes... And no I did not use a high zinc... no one suggested it and the lifters/cams didn't change. I just used a conventional oil the first 1800 miles... Just swapped to Rotela T6 this last time.
ok thank you The rest of the motor is fine. Just got off the phone with the shop
Owner is a good friend and going to Line bore it and replace the crank for $450
loving the plates! what were the numbers? I can't read them easily
