The following pic, is a painting, done by a Girl Friend of mine. Not my Girlfriend, she can't paint a wall. I think it is very good. And yes, it used to be a puzzle, still is in places. Not finished yet she says. Very Cool. Given permission by the Artist. Mandie Willis

My sister recently moved from Kettering to Ft Wayne, IN. She raised all her kids there but her hubby needed a job when his company closed at Wright Pat and he found one in FW. Your friend may know them if she is young. (early 20's) Their last name was Mente.

I hold to the idea that "Talent is Applied Interest"...and this young lady has originality in her artwork... It would be nice to see her hook up with either a T-Shirt Silk Screen Machine where she could make and market her own artwork via eBay..or with an automotive design maker in mind. Many decades ago.. almost on a bet... I took up the challenge of trying to teach myself "How to Paint"...and suffered all the jabs and jibes that went along with my failures...and it remained that way only for a little while...and then one day... my paintings took on a life of their own...and all the jokes and hee-hawing were replaced by many more "Oooohs and Ahhhhs". Please see some examples of my work in the attached images... I am inclined to encourage ANYBODY who wants to express themselves artistically to ignore the nay-sayers and poo-poohing that accompanies the reactions of the jealous and mean-spirited folk... and just keep doing it until it comes out the way you envision things... It still amazes me to this day that a Dumbass like me with two left hands can actually make things of lasting beauty with a little colored oil paint and some sail canvas.Last edited by 60dgrzbelow0; 07-03-2010, 08:34 PM.

Very cool 60dgrzbelow0! I like them a lot. It does look like it's in the style of Bob Ross but that's not a bad thing. I always thought he was amazing at landscapes, and his 70's Fro kicked A$$.
He probably fit right in in Muncie, IN.
If you watched the old Andy Griffith Show credits there was always a Bob Ross listed as Story Consultant, IIRC. I always wondered if that was him in his younger days.

Yes... and Thank You, Gentleman... But before Bob Ross had left the US Air Force to make a name for himself on those "Magic of Oil Painting" Shows... The original TV Art Teacher on that same show was a cheerful, silver haired Austrian fellow named Bill Alexander... So I got my initial desire to test the "Talent is Applied Interest" theory from watching him. Quite a bit later... I also got as many of the Bob Ross shows as possible...and amongst the stack of "MOP" art books I bought up from him... he must have found out how many I was buying...and signed one for me! God rest that guy's Sweet Soul... He fell ill to the "Big C" just about the time his fortunes were being made. I will always be grateful to the both of them for proving to me that with just a little encouragement... the average man's grasp can exceed his reach...from time to time. We do the same things in here for each other... Some of us get to play a "Bob Ross"- like character whenever we offer help to those in need of hand with their mechanical woes... and when they learn such things ...they pass it on, too.Last edited by 60dgrzbelow0; 07-12-2010, 02:10 PM.
